Wordle は、文章を入力すると単語をタグクラウドのように並べてくれる Java アプレット。
ブログなどのRSSを指定することも可能。このブログ『ヅラッシュ！』のRSSを使ってみたらこんな感じ。

この Wordle を知ったのは書籍『ビューティフルビジュアライゼーション』(Beautiful Visualization)。
『ビューティフルビジュアライゼーション』には Wordle の単語配置アルゴリズムの解説が載っていて興味深い。
Wordleの配置アルゴリズムは、単語を螺旋状に移動して置ける場所を探す。
Wordleの重なり判定、階層的なボックス領域、Broadphase、領域四分木(region quadtree)。
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
